On April 27, 2012, the capital of Thailand has become the hottest place in the country for the past 30 years. The maximum temperature, which was registered on the hydro-meteorological station of Don Mueang Airport, was 34.9 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department reports that the previous temperature record was registered in Thailand on April 27, 1983. In 1983, the temperature in Thai capital was 39.9 degrees Celsius.

Many citizens believe that it is not accidentally that April 27 systematically becomes the hottest day in the capital. They believe that this is somehow connected with the position of the sun that day, but experts of Meteorological Department refute this assumption.

Tourism News. Last year, despite the global crisis, in Europe the level of inbound tourism was 503.2 million people, according to the statistics from UNWTO (World Tourism Organization).

This figure was surprising also due to the fact that it was the first time when it exceeded half a billion.

According to the report of the organization, the best results were shown in the Central, Southern-Mediterranean and Eastern Europe – 8% growth in each direction.

Ukrainians travel not only in their own country, they also find vacations in Dominican Republic, Thailand, Cuba and Mexico attractive, according to Joseph Andrik, the president of the Association of Leaders of tourist industry of Ukraine.

As president of ALTU notices, due to the simplification of visa regime and new low cost companies (engaged in air transportation) the tourist flow from Ukraine to the UAE increased.

In anticipation of Semana Santa (Holy Week), the tourists will come to Mexico, the Ministry of Tourism Development in Mexico Sektur suggests.

It was also suggested that this fact will bring 34.118 trillion pesos (248,35 billion U.S. dollars) into the treasury of Mexico.

This figure is much higher than the previous data reported last year by 4.4%.

Influx of Ukrainian tourists to the “Sunny Beach” is also expected.

The current world championship calendar includes eight European and Asian stages.

Ten years ago, the proportion was quite different: 11 Grand Prix in the Old World, and only two – Japan and Malaysia – in the East.

This shows that it is the Asian vector of Formula 1 which has become prevalent in recent times.

News coming from Thailand can be considered another proof of this thesis.

They also want to hold their own F1 race.

Last year, there were demonstration races of Red Bull Racing on the streets of Bangkok – the choice of this particular team can be easily explained.

Recently deceased Chaleo Yoovidhya – the owner of 49% of Red Bull – was a citizen of Thailand.

After his death, Yovidhya Jr., Chalermo became the richest man in the country and controlling shareholder of the manufacturer of energy drinks.

It is his support which the local initiative group expects. This group wants to hold the F1 Grand Prix on urban highway, as the construction of stationary motordrome will become a serious financial burden for this country which is far from rich.

Near the resort town of Pattaya, there is a small track, built in 1985.

It is named after Prince Bira – native of this place, which participated successfully in the Grand Prix in the 50s.

This is a ring of the national class, and its infrastructure is far from the level of the World Cup.

Interest in Formula 1 in Thailand is also due to the need to return the tourists, which the country has lost after a military coup in 2006 and the subsequent period of instability.

Only in July last year, the elections were held, and the new government are aimed at the restoration of the image of Thailand.

With the help of Red Bull, the project can become a reality – 1000 audience of mentioned demonstration races shows that local fans are interested in motorsport, and a potential Grand Prix in Thailand does not suffer the fate of Turkish stage, when the pilots had compete almost without any audience.

It is also important to note that Red Bull now supports a 16-year-old pilot Alexander Albona.

He participates in races on the UK license, but his family is from Thailand.

Last year, the young pilot became the vice-world champion in carting, and this season he takes part in Formula Renault 2.0.

So in theory the new Grand Prix is a good prospect – unless, of course, Bernie Ecclestone decides that a Formula 1 already Asia.

Don Muang located to the north of Bangkok was closed on October 25, when the airport was flooded.

The images of liners in water almost reaching fuselage were broadcasted around the world.

Airport Authority of Thailand has allocated 1.2 billion baht / $ 400 million / for the restoration of runways, terminals and equipment of Don Muang.

And 392 million baht / $ 13 million / were spent for this purpose by the Government of the Kingdom.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Thailand Silpachai Charukasemrattana pointed out that the airport meets all international standards in safety and health.

The first company, which resumed today flights from Don Muang airport, was a budget airline “Nok Air”

Today, “Nok Air” will operate 82 flights from Don Muang.

For 4 months, when the airport was closed, the company has operated flights from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, which didn’t suffer floods.

Since July 25 last year, when Thailand suffered a series of tropical storms, the floods affected 66 out of 76 provinces of the Kingdom for 4 months.

At the peak of the floods, in late October, almost two-thirds of the Kingdom were flooded.

In particular, 27 out of 50 districts of Bangkok were under water.

More than 800 people were killed by the flood in Thailand in 2011.

According to the World Bank, damage totals at least $ 21 billion.

Muay Thai is the national sport in Thailand, as well as an integral part of its history and culture.

These days, the country’s Muay Thai schools are popular not only among the local population but also among foreigners, whose interest in sport is growing every year.

By 1920 Thai boxing had been included in the school curriculum, but because of high injury the subject had to be canceled.

There are more than two thousand of Thai boxing clubs in teh country.

Soldiers and police officers do Muay Thai on a mandatory basis.

Tourists gladly visit boxing matches that are conducted for them in almost all tourist areas.

Despite the fact that Muay Thai is not yet an Olympic sport, the competitions of regional, national and international scale are regularly held on the territory of the country and abroad.

The history of this art is not known for sure, because after the fall of Ayutthaya, many chronicles were lost.

A distinctive feature of Muay Thai is a traditional prayer of Wai Kru and the ceremonial dance Kru Muay before each fight, and they show reverence and gratitude for the care of parents and teachers.

In addition, dance is a workout and psychological adjustment to a fight.

The annual festival of Thai Martial Arts will be held from 17 to 23 March this year.

The venue will be an ancient capital of Thailand, the city of Ayutthaya.

Muay Thai boxers will come to the festival as a sign of respect to their teachers and the legendary folk hero Nai Khanom Tom, whose homeland is the city of Ayutthaya.

More than 300 Muay Thai fighters from South Africa, France, Canada, South Korea, Britain, Russia and other countries will become the participants of one of the most unique events on the world sports arena.

For guests of the festival will be able to participate in the educational seminars and master classes of Thai Crafts and Thai cuisine.

The Government warned: for approval of articles with the criticism of the monarchy you can go to jail, reports “NTV”.

The monarchy in Thailand is absolute value, and the punishment for its insult in this country is the most severe in the world.

However, the distance between clicking in the browser and the prison has never been so close.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Thailand Anudith Nakornthap advises everyone who has clicked “like” under the Articles relating to majesty to remove it immediately.

Otherwise it may result in accusations of “indirect” distribution of illegal content.

The warning came two days after the man who had sent a message with the insult of the Queen, was sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment.

The total damage from catastrophic floods in Thailand will cost 1.36 trillion baht (more than 43 billion dollars).

Such an assessment of damages was provided by an expert of the Bangkok World Bank in Thailand Kirida Bhaopichitr, ITAR-TASS reported.

In particular, there are 94% of losses in the private sector and only 6% – in the state sector.

This year, because of catastrophic losses caused by the elements, GDP growth in Thailand amounted to 2.4% instead of previously projected 3.6%.

In 2012, GDP growth figures will increase and will be not less than 4%.

This was caused by the fact that Thailand would have to do a great job on the restoration of destroyed buildings, infrastructure, and send huge amounts of money for the rehabilitation of industrial companies.

As a reminder, since July 5, when the north of Thailand was hit by a tropical storm Nock-Ten, natural disasters have affected 63 provinces, over 11 million people suffered from the element, nearly 1 million people sought medical help.

Nearly 250 thousand people were left homeless.

Citizens in Thailand who lost their property due to high water, are under special control of specialists, who fear the increasing number of suicides.

Currently Thai authorities will have to take a difficult decision on what to do next with the oldest airport in Bangkok Don Muang: whether to restore it or to recognize the airport unsuitable for use.

The fact is that the airport was badly damaged by floods in late October – passenger and cargo terminals and the western runway were flooded and only the eastern runway escaped destruction.

In this regard, Don Muang operation was stopped.

Previously, the damaged airport received and sent flights of local airlines Nok Air and Orient Thai, as well as some charter and cargo airliners.

Because of disaster, they had to send aircrafts to Suvanabumi (here in Bangkok) and Utapao (Pattaya).

Initially, the authorities said that the airport would be rebuilt, but in late November, the situation was seriously deteriorated – the water level in the Don Muang amounted to one and a half meters.

The exact amount of damage is not reported, but the experts say that millions of dollars are required to rebuild the airport.

If the government decides to restore the terminal, a new defensive wall must be constructed, the same as in Suvanabumi.

Though it is much more real to adapt the airport to the exhibition or logistics center – it will cost much less.

So far the authorities have allocated money on pumping water out of the airport.

Don Muang is the oldest airport in Asian history.

It was opened in 1914, however, the flights had been serviced earlier.

Commercial flights had been serviced since 1924. Billions of tourists from all over the world came here.
