Auhorities of Thailand introduced new charges to the aircraft IL-76 In Thailand, the crew of the IL-76, arrested a month ago was lodged new charges. The pilots of the aircraft were charged by the local authorities for illegal transportation of weapons, smuggling of weapon into the country, as well as non-disclosure of information about the dangerous baggage.
The investigation turned to the court for the extension of the prison term to the crew. Earlier, the crew was accused only of illegal possession of weapons and reporting of false information to the police. The crew, consisting of citizens of Kazakhstan and Belarus, was caught a month ago, when their plane, flying from North Korea, landed for refueling in Bangkok.
On board the customs officers found more than 35 tons of weapons, dozens of crates of grenade launchers and anti-aircraft defense systems. The crew members pleaded not guilty, claiming that they were sure: there is equipment for drilling rigs in the cargo compartment.
